I am a Design Director, with a passion for digital and a background in branding.
I'm also a conference speaker and lecturer, and write articles on design, creativity, websites, technology and other things like sustaining creativity, being the sell out in my circus family, and whether goal setting is useful. (I also run The Goals Project).
I am currently leading the design at Wunderman and Blast Radius as part of an experience studio. I've spent the previous 4 years at SapientNitro crafting the design and experience for mobile/tablet apps, and websites, and spent 6 months living in Amsterdam running the redesign and implementation of Adidas.com.
I've recently been working with some big luxury brands, creating smart and beautiful pitch winning ideas, huge global website design and build, highly crafted personal projects, and mobile apps. I remain a very hands on designer with an obsessive attention to detail, but my role requires me to champion design thinking, craft, and User Experience to help guide the vision of our clients. Where I work and who I work with is just as important as the clients so I work hard to help nurture and push creative culture, community, and the quality of work within the agency.
Before the internet became my favourite design medium I worked in advertising, branding, and at a New York fashion magazine - Brand and style remain at the heart of my work. A twist of fate, working at Poke NY and a foray into Healthcare advertising helped me find my love of digital work, winning my first IPA Best in Show and Clio Award for an augmented reality website (originally briefed as a printed flyer).
In complete contrast to my love of luxury design and technology and my pixel perfection I continue a ten year design project on dead umbrellas.
